On the 26th of Dec, God bless me with a lovely baby girl. And luckily for me my mother in-law was around and she made sure that me and my wife got some night sleep. Unfortunately for me, she had to go back to resume her job and we have no house help. As a veteran in the fatherhood business, I knew I was in for another season of sleepless nights.
Trust the fine chick, she needs to eat every hour and hates sleeping. So, after her mummy finishes feeding her, she will hand the little princess over to me and it was my duty to make her go back to sleep. Now, as a pharmacist fatherhood veteran, I have learnt some tricks on how to put a baby to sleep and these are some of them
A. CARRY HER AND WALK AROUND – Because while in the womb their mummies walking around lures them to sleep, they usually want the rhythmic movement to continue.
STEP FOR THIS
1. CARRY HER AND MAKE SURE THAT HIS OR HER BODY IS IN CONTACT WITH YOURS
2. SUPPORT THE BODY WITH ONE HAND AND THE HEAD WITH ANOTHER HAND
3. USE THE HAND SUPPORTING THE HEAD TO GENTLY PRESS IT TO YOUR SHOULDER
4. NOW WALK AROUND THE HOUSE
5. GIST GENTLY WITH HER WHILE WALKING
B. SIT AND ROCK – Get a comfortable chair, sit down, hold the baby close to your body and gently rock back and forth. Rock along with the baby and don’t rock just the baby alone
C. GIVE HER BACK TO HER MUMMY – Well, there are actually times that only mummy can put baby back to sleep. So, do not be disappointed when you can’t get baby to go to sleep. As two golden babies award winner in making babies go to sleep, there are times I still fail to get her to go to sleep.
But, even as a non pharmacist , never ever give baby a sleep inducing medication to make her sleep. If you do that, then know that you are just nurturing a child that will definitely grow up to be an addict. Its better to have a sleepless night trying to make baby sleep than to give your lovely baby a sleep inducer.
Oop, She is calling for me again. Gist you later and remember to read our book on HOW TO LIVE AND HAVE A HAPPY IN A TOUGH ECONOMY
